Hyundai To Open Ioniq 5 Bookings On December 20 | V3Cars

Hyundai are set to open bookings for the Ioniq 5 all-electric crossover SUV on December 20. Hyundai have also revealed the feature list and powertrain of the India-spec Ioniq 5. The South Korean carmaker is likely to launch the Ioniq 5 at the 2023 Auto Expo. Let’s take a closer look at the confirmed features, powertrain specifications and expected launch date of the Ioniq 5:

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 — Emphasis On Eco-Friendly Materials

Hyundai have shed some light on the eco-friendly materials used in the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 uses bio paint, which use oil extracts from plants such as rape flowers and corn. It is used on the Ioniq 5’s surfaces like crash pad, switches, steering wheel and door panels

Furthermore, the Ioniq 5 uses an eco-friendly fabric that’s made up of 32 recycled plastic bottles. These bottles are shredded into small plastic chips that are then melted and spun into thread. This fabric is used on the seat back and door armrests in the Ioniq 5.

Hyundai India have confirmed a couple of exterior and interior features of the upcoming Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 gets ‘parametric pixel’ LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. Around the side, it gets 20-inch multi-spoke aero-optimised alloy wheels. On the inside, the Ioniq 5 offers a fixed glass roof with no intrusion in between, giving a seamless viewing experience. The dashboard of the Ioniq 5 also has magnetic surfaces that come in handy to place your memorable pictures. It also gets a large and practical drawer-type glove box to store your knick-knacks.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 — Powertrain Options

Globally, the Ioniq 5 comes with 2 battery pack options — a 58kWh and a larger 77.4kWh. With the 77.4kWh battery pack, the Ioniq 5 offers 228PS (2WD) and 325PS (4WD). The top speed of all Ioniq 5 variants is capped at 185kmph. The 325PS 4WD variant of the Ioniq does the 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.1 seconds and offers a range of 481km. Meanwhile, the rear-wheel-drive variants offer a range of 507km on a full charge.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 — Launch Details

As we stated earlier, bookings for the Ioniq 5 will commence on December 20. Hyundai are likely to reveal the prices of the India-spec Ioniq 5 at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 will go up against the likes of the Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge, BYD Atto 3 and the Mercedes-Benz EQB.
