Hyundai Tucson Discontinued Amid Low Demand | V3Cars

Hyundai India have officially discontinued their flagship SUV, the Tucson. The model has been delisted from Hyundai’s official website, signalling the end of the road for the current Tucson in the Indian market. With this, the Tucson becomes the latest D1-segment SUV to bow out due to slowing demand and a narrowing customer base in the segment.

Hyundai Tucson Discontinued In India Amid Low Demand

Hyundai Tucson: Discontinued After Just 3 Years!

The current, 4th generation Hyundai Tucson was launched in India in 2022 as the brand’s most premium ICE SUV. Despite offering a strong feature list, advanced safety technology, and optional all-wheel drive (AWD), the Tucson could not sustain sales momentum beyond its initial launch phase.

According to industry data, Tucson sales peaked in 2023. But since then, the demand for SUVs in the Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 40 lakh price bracket has fallen, leading to sales of SUVs such as the Tucson, Compass, C5 Aircross. Etc. to drop off. The model’s discontinuation comes roughly 3 years after its launch, ending Hyundai’s presence in India’s premium ICE SUV space for now.

The Tucson was offered with 2 engine options – a 2L normal petrol and a 2L diesel paired with automatic transmissions. However, its CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly kept pricing on the higher side, making it difficult to compete with similarly priced SUVs that offered stronger brand value, such as the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

At the same time, Hyundai’s own Creta and Alcazar offered most of the Tucson’s strengths at a much lower price, which further limited its appeal. As a result, the Tucson ended up in a narrow niche between mass-market and entry-luxury SUVs.

As of now, Hyundai have no direct replacement lined up for the Tucson in India. The brand’s focus remains on high-volume models such as the Creta, Exter and recently-launched 2026 Venue.
