Hyundai India are gearing up to update their product portfolio this year. While the launch of the Venue facelift is slated for June, Hyundai are expected to launch the 2022 Tucson later this year. In the meantime, we try to give a virtual overview of the India-bound Tucson. A few spy shots of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson doing rounds on our roads have already surfaced online.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson was the first Hyundai SUV to incorporate the brand’s new design philosophy. With an updated cascading grille up front, Z-shaped side panels and connected LED taillights, the Tucson served as a preview to future Hyundai offerings. The LED headlights of the 2022 Tucson are seamlessly integrated into the cascading grille slots. The side profile sports multiple sharps and creases, forming a Z-shape as a signature design element. The top variants get dual-tone alloy wheels that measure at 19-inches. At the rear, the Tucson gets connected LED taillights and knurled finishing on the lower bumper.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson follows a minimalistic design when it comes to the interiors. It features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 4-spoke steering wheel, shift-by-wire technology, ventilated seats and touch-enabled AC controls. It is worth noting that the Australian-spec Tucson comes with 5-seats and a longer wheelbase than the standard Tucson. The India-spec Tucson is likely to get the long wheelbase option with 7-seats.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is likely to offer the same engine options as the current-gen model that’s on sale in India. The 2.0L normal petrol engine produces 159PS of power and 191Nm of torque. The 2.0L turbo diesel engine puts out 185PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The normal petrol engine and turbo diesel engine are likely to come mated to a 6-speed automatic and an 8-speed automatic transmission respectively. The Tucson diesel could also be offered with the option of 4-wheel-drive.
