Jeep Compass SUV and its Indian launch, the Compass’ launch in this country is considered to be a huge step from FCA which is looking to reinforce its Jeep brand in the vast car market of India. The company recently launched Jeep brand in India with the introduction of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited as well as the Grand Cherokee SUV models in the month of August.
FCA India, the fully owned Indian subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, confirmed that the Jeep Compass will launch in India by mid-2017. The Jeep Compass will be the first Jeep product which will be locally manufactured in this country at Fiat's manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.
Prior to the launch of the locally manufactured Jeep Compass SUV in the Indian market, FCA is realigning its sales and servicing strategies. The Italian auto giant first opened its FCA Destination Store in India in Worli, Mumbai. The FCA Destination Store will be offering for sale all the vehicles that are offered under the brands of Fiat, Abarth and Jeep under one single roof. FCA Destination Store in Worli which is run by Landmark Lifestyle Cars Pvt. Ltd. comes with a display area of more than 8,500 square feet, while a 12,035 square feet large authorized workshop is also being setup close to Andheri East. The company plans to add more FCA Destination Stores across the main cities.
While speaking on the new Destination Store network, FCA India’s president & managing director, Mr. Kevin Flynn said that all the new Destination Stores from FCA will be designed to offer a broad brand experience. Moreover, to offer a great customer experience at these showrooms as well as workshops, the company plans to introduce Camp Jeep in the country India – which is FCA’s international property which will offer an opportunity for the Indian customers to realize true off-roading experience the Jeep way.
Coming back to the Jeep Compass SUV and its Indian launch, the Compass’ launch in this country is considered to be a huge step from FCA which is looking to reinforce its Jeep brand in the vast car market of India. The currently available Jeep models in India have been tagged at a price range of Rs. 71.59 lakhs to Rs. 1.12 crore. However, the Jeep Compass is expected to be much more affordable than these two Jeep models. Owing to its local manufacturing, the upcoming Jeep Compass is speculated to be coming with price tag of around Rs. 25 lakhs. At this price slab, post its Indian launch the Compass will be the major volume drawer for the brand and will go straight up against the likes of Hyundai Tucson, BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Honda CR-V.
In India, the Jeep Compass will be packing in a 2.0-liter petrol as well as a 2.0-liter diesel motor options under its hood. The Compass is expected to offer a peak power of 170 Bhp. Both the engines will be paired to a sophisticated 9 speed automatic transmission, while a manual gearbox is also expected. The Jeep Compass will be manufactured at the FCA India facility not only for the domestic car market but also for other international right-hand-drive car markets.
