In this June 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures for each carmaker, segment and body style in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable.
Brand-Wise June 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of percentage, Skoda posted the best YoY improvement of 720% because of the low numbers in the June of 2021 and the addition of Slavia and Kushaq to the portfolio
- Jeep also posted a healthy 149% YoY improvement
- Tata and Toyota posted similar around 88% YoY gains
- Volkswagen doubled its sales over the last year
- Maruti Suzuki lost just over 1% and was the only YoY loser in June 2022
Brand-Wise June 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- In terms of MoM change, most carmakers witnessed a gain
- Citroen were the top MoM gainer with a 69% growth
- Volkswagen were top loser with a 5.6% lower MoM production figure
- Jeep were the second biggest gainer with 52.7% loss in June of 2022
- Maruti Suzuki saw their MoM production decline by 1.46% in June 2022
Segment-Wise June 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of YoY change, D1 segment was the biggest gainer posting a 158% YoY improvement followed by D2 segment with 101% YoY gain in June 2022
- The A segment saw the lowest gain with YoY production improvement of 12.8%
- None of the segments witnessed a YoY drop in production in June 2022
Segment-Wise June 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- D2 segment saw the biggest MoM production jump of 159% followed distantly by D1 with 45.5% improvement
- The A segment was the only MoM loser in June 2022 and recorded a 6.75% MoM drop
Body-Wise June 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Sedans and MPVs witnessed big YoY gains in June 2022 to the tune of roughly 47%
- None of the body styles lost ground in June YoY change
Body-Wise June 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- In the MoM comparison for June 2022, MPVs saw the biggest gain of 15.6%
- Only the low-volume pickup segment lost 74% MoM in June 2022
