Kia EV2 Teased Ahead Of Global Debut On January 9 | V3Cars

Kia have officially confirmed that their upcoming entry-level electric crossover – the Kia EV2 – will make its global debut at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show on January 9. The EV2 will be Kia’s smallest global EV yet, sitting below the EV3 internationally.

Kia EV2 Teased Ahead Of Global Debut – Design, Range, India Launch

Although India launch details are still unclear, the EV2 name was trademarked in India back in 2023, indicating that Kia have at least evaluated it for our market.

Kia EV2: Exterior Design

Kia have released the first teaser image showing the production-spec EV2 draped under a semi-transparent cover. From the teaser image and earlier concept references, we can piece together the overall design direction for the EV2.

Kia EV2 Front Design

Up front, the EV2 will feature vertically-stacked LED DRLs, similar to the concept. It will also offer a chunky front skid plate and heavy cladding. The silhouette suggests an upright nose and boxy proportions similar to the Kia Syros.

Kia EV2 Rear Design

At the rear, the EV2 will feature a roof-mounted spoiler and a slightly raked rear windscreen. The low-set rear LED lamps resemble those of the Kia Syros. The high waistline and upright stance should give the EV2 the appeal of a micro SUV, similar to the likes of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.

Compared to the concept, the production EV2 appears to have a longer front overhang, a more conventional B-pillar and slightly toned-down lighting elements. Overall, the production model stays very close to the original EV2 Concept’s silhouette.

Kia EV2: Interior Layout

The latest teaser image does not reveal the interior of the EV2. However, the EV2 concept showcased earlier this year suggests the EV2 will offer bench seats for the front and rear passengers with a sliding function aimed at maximising usable space in a compact footprint.

We expect the production-spec EV2 to offer multiple 12.3-inch screens, ventilated and heated front and rear seats and a large panoramic glass roof.

Kia EV2: Powertrain Expectations

While Kia have not officially disciples the battery or motor specifications, the EV2 is expected to share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Inster EV, which sits on a 400V EV platform derived from Hyundai’s small-car architecture. We do not expect it to be based in the full-scale E-GMP platform, which underpins models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 and the EV9 SUVs.

The EV2 could borrow the Inster EV’s battery packs, which includes a 39kWh battery with a WLTP-claimed range of 327km and a 46kWh battery with a claimed range of 369km. We expect the battery pack to power a single front-axle mounted electric motor. This will position the EV2 as a practical urban EV rather than a highway-focused long-range electric SUV.

India Launch: Still Unconfirmed

Kia have not confirmed the EV2 for India yet. While the name was trademarked, the company have been silent on its localisation or launch plan. However, Kia may bring the Syros EV instead.

The Kia Syros EV, which was recently spied, is reportedly being evaluated for launch. If introduced, it will sit below the Carens Clavis EV, making it the brand’s most affordable electric offering for India.

Expected Rivals In India

If either the EV2 or Syros EV arrives, it will rival:

  • Tata Nexon EV
  • MG Windsor EV

Both models dominate the B2- and C1-segment EV space today.
