Kia Carens Recall Announced For Airbag Control Module Software | V3Cars

Kia India have announced a voluntary recall for the Kia Carens MPV. This recall is to rectify the issue of faulty airbag control module software in the affected vehicles. Read on to know more about the first recall for the Carens.

As per the statement released by Kia, the South Korean carmaker will recall the affected vehicles and diagnose the issue. If the airbag control module is found defective, Kia will offer a software update to rectify the issue free of cost. The recall for the airbag control module software is the first voluntary recall campaign for the Kia Carens. Earlier, Kia recalled the Seltos SUV for faulty fuel pump issues.

Kia announced that they will directly reach out to owners of the affected vehicles and inform them about the recall. Owners of the affected vehicles will be required to visit the nearest Kia service centre and get the vehicle diagnosed. Owners can also visit Kia India’s website to schedule the visit.

The Kia Carens is one of the latest family movers in the country. Kia launched the Carens MPV on February 15, 2022 and it goes up against the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta. Its prices start from Rs. 9.60 lakh and go up to Rs. 17.70 lakh ex-showroom.

The Kia Carens was an instant success for the South Korean carmaker, with over 50,000 bookings made in just 2 months. The huge demand has led to waiting periods of up to 1 year for select variants.

The Carens comes with 3 engine options – a 1.5L normal petrol engine, a 1.4L turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. All of these engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Automatic transmission options include a 7-speed DCT for the 1.4L turbo petrol engine and a 6-speed TC automatic transmission for the 1.5L diesel engine.
