The Kia Seltos has managed get 6046 bookings on the first day of commencement of its official bookings. Kia opened booking registers for the Seltos on 16 July. The SUV can be booked online as well as offline. The carmaker reports that 1628 out of the over 6000 bookings for the Seltos were placed online. While the Seltos is Kia’s first car in India, the South Korean car brand, which is also a Hyundai Motor Group company, is already present in 160 cities in India.

Kia has revealed that the Seltos will be available with three engine options: 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. All the engines will be available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission. While the 1.5-litre petrol engine will be paired with a CVT, the 1.5-litre diesel will come with a torque converter. The turbo-petrol engine, on the other hand, will come equipped with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Talk of features, and the Seltos will be equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, a head-up display unit, drive modes, connected car tech and more.

The Seltos will be positioned in the compact SUV space against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur and Duster. In this segment, the Seltos will be the first SUV to get a 140+PS petrol engine. It will also be the first SUV in this space to get connected car tech and BS6 engines. Needless to say, the top-spec Seltos could very well be the most expensive compact SUV when it goes on sale in India on 22 August 2019. At present, the top-spec Creta costs Rs 15.65 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. SUVs like the Tata Harrier and MG Hector are one size bigger than the Seltos, although some of the variants of the Seltos will overlap with those of these SUVs on the price chart.
