Kia Seltos Facelift To Get 1.5L Turbo Petrol Engine

With the upcoming BS6 phase-2 emission norms, Hyundai and Kia decided not to update the 1.4L turbo petrol engine to meet the more stringent emission standards. The 1.4L turbo petrol engine will make way for a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine will make its debut with the 2023 Hyundai Verna and will also power the updated Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Carens. In fact, Hyundai have started accepting bookings for the 2023 Alcazar with the 1.5L turbo petrol engine.

The 1.5L turbo petrol engine produces 160PS of power at 5500rpm and 253Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 3500rpm. It comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Furthermore, the Seltos will continue with the 1.5L normal petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options, albeit with the BS6 phase-2 and road driving emission standards compliance. The power and torque outputs of both the petrol and diesel engines are likely to remain unchanged.

Kia Seltos Facelift Launch In 2023?

Kia India’s head of marketing and sales, Hardeep Brar, recently stated in an interview that Kia will not launch any new products in 2023. However, Kia launched the Seltos back in 2019 and it has already completed over 3 years in India. Following a general product lifecycle, the Seltos should receive a mid life cycle facelift in 2023. Hence, we expect Kia India to bring the Seltos facelift to our shores towards the end of 2023.
