Kia Stonic Showcased At Auto Expo 2020
Kia has showcased its Stonic compact SUV at the Auto Expo 2020.

In the UK market, the Stonic is available with 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine is the same as the one in Hyundai Venue and makes 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque. It’s available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Kia Stonic also has a 1.6-litre diesel engine which makes 115PS of power and 280Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual transmission only. The 1.6-litre diesel engine is unlikely to make it to the showroom even if the Stonic launches in India. As Hyundai and Kia are replacing the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines with 1.5-litre versions, which debuted with the Kia Seltos. So, expect the Stonic to get the 1.5-litre diesel engine if it ever goes on sale in India.

If Kia decides to bring the Stonic to India, it could compete with other compact SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Skoda Vision IN. However, Kia could also shorten it to fit under 4 meters to enjoy lower tax benefits. Then, it will have potent rivals like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
