Tata Motors owned luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has started offering advanced connectivity features on its flagship products including the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Discovery. All these luxury SUVs now come with connectivity features called Protect, Remote Premium and Secure Tracker under the InControl Package.
Commenting on the offered features, Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL) said, "It has been our endeavor to bring the very best and latest connected car technologies into India and we are delighted that our tech-savvy customers can now enjoy a safer and secure driving experience."
Earlier in 2017, Jaguar Land Rover had first introduced 4G capable Wi-Fi and Pro Services and now the manufacturer has added Land Rover Optimized Assistance and SOS Emergency Call under Protect, Remote Premium and Secure Tracker as an extension to the same.
Let’s understand the features in detail –
1. Protect –In case the vehicle breaks down, one can request immediate assistance by pressing the 'Optimized Assistance' button on the left side of the overhead console. By pressing the button, the person can establish communication with a helpline operator who will guide the breakdown service unit directly to the vehicle. However, the assistance can also be triggered from the InControl Remote Smartphone App. Other than this, the SOS Emergency Call will automatically connect the user to the emergency response team who will notify the emergency services to the user's location in case of a serious incident and one can also trigger Emergency Assistance manually by the user by pressing the button on the right hand side of the overhead console.
2. Remote Premium –another added feature is called Remote Premium that has been designed to provide information on the vehicle to the user and enables the user to interact with the vehicle remotely. Also, this smartphone app allows users to remotely activate the vehicle heating and cooling to the desired temperature before they enter the vehicle. Other than these, the features also helps the user to remotely lock or unlock the vehicle, receive alerts when the vehicle alarm is sounding, remotely beep and flash the car to help locate the car in crowded parking spaces and where available, remotely use the seat fold function.
3. Secure Tracker –This feature has been offered as an option. In the case of an attempted vehicle theft or a vehicle being tampered, the feature will trigger a theft notification to the 'Stolen Vehicle Tracking Centre' that will immediately alert the registered InControl user of the vehicle and if requested by the local law enforcement agency, pinpoint the exact location of the vehicle for recovery.

Prices for the JLR Discovery start from Rs 74.95 lakh (ex-Showroom, India), while the Range Rover Sport has been priced from Rs 99.48 lakh (ex-Showroom, India) and the flagship Range Rover gets a starting price of Rs 1.74 crore (ex-Showroom, India).
