Mahindra Scorpio Classic Fuel Efficiency | V3Cars

Mahindra’s recently-unveiled Scorpio Classic comes with a host of changes compared to its predecessor. The new changes include an updated diesel engine and revised suspension. Mahindra claim the updated diesel engine in the Scorpio Classic helps it deliver 14% better fuel efficiency than the old Scorpio.

The new Scorpio Classic is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 16.46kmpl. The new engine in the Scorpio Classis uses an all-aluminum block and weighs 55kg less than the older engine. In fact, it is the same engine found in the Scorpio N Z2 variant. The 2.2L turbo diesel produces 130PS of power at 3750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1600rpm and 2800rpm.

Mahindra also revealed that the new Scorpio Classic now delivers 230Nm of its torque, or 77% of its peak torque output, right from 1000rpm. This should improve the Scorpio Classic’s in-city driveability significantly.

In addition to that, Mahindra have also added a cable-operated transmission. This move should help improve the shift quality apart from offering shorter lever travel between each cog.

On the inside, the new Scorpio Classic gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in Google Maps, dual-tone dashboard and a new steering wheel with Mahindra’s new twin peaks logo.
