Mahindra will soon launch the Scorpio Classic SUV with BS6 phase-2 compliant engine. Along with the updated engine, the new Scorpio Classic will also get a new S5 variant, which will bridge the price gap between the base S and top S11 variant.

Fans of the Scorpio Classic can rejoice as Mahindra will continue to sell the C-segment SUV in 2023. While it is currently available in base S and S11 top-spec variants, the carmaker plans to add a new S5 middle variant. The new S5 variant will make the Scorpio Classic more accessible to the buyers who want basic features but do not want to stretch their budget for the S11 variant.
Currently, the Scorpio Classic prices start from Rs. 12.64 lakh and go up to Rs. 16.14 lakh (ex-showroom). The S5 variant is likely to bridge the gap between the S and S11 variants with a good mix of must-have and feel-good features.

The new S5 variant will offer all 3 seating configurations — 9-seater, 7-seater with bench seat and 7-seater with captain seats. As per the type approval document, the S11 variant of the updated Scorpio Classic will also offer the 9-seater configuration alongside the 7-seater options.
The updated Mahindra Scorpio Classic will retain the current 2.2L turbo diesel engine. However, the engine will receive updates and comply with the BS6 phase-2 emission and road driving emission standards. The leaked document suggests the power and torque outputs of the engine will remain unchanged. So, expect it to produce the same 132PS of power at 3750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1600rpm and 2800rpm as the current engine. This engine will continue to offer 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drivetrain.
