Mahindra Vision S (Bolero Neo Replacement) Expected Launch Timeline | V3Cars

Mahindra revealed the Vision S with a lot of fanfare at their Freedom NU event in Mumbai. The new platform will have tremendous potential in terms of flexibility as it is compatible with petrol/diesel as well as electric powertrains. The Vision S is a sub-4m SUV with an extremely boxy silhouette but in person, it won’t offer the kind of road presence you get from a 4m SUV like the Thar. The Vision S is neither as wide as the Thar nor does it have the proportions to match the Thar’s personality.

Mahindra Vision S (Next-Gen Bolero Neo) — Expected Launch Timeline

The fact that Mahindra chose to put on street-friendly tyres on the Vision S tells us that this is going to be a soft-roader, i.e., a front-wheel drive instead of a rear-wheel drive as the Bolero Neo. However, the new NU IQ platform looks like it may offer most of the advantages you expect from a body-on-frame vehicle.

The Bolero Neo went on sale in 2015 as TUV 300. It failed to fly off the shelves and Mahindra banked on the immensely successful Bolero brand and rebadged it as Bolero Neo. This happened in 2021, when the car also got its mid-life update.

This suggests that the Bolero Neo has a half life of 6 years and a full product lifecycle of 12 years. If you add 6 more years to 2021 (the last major update for Bolero Neo), you get 2027. And that is when we expect the Vision S to go on sale — sometime in 2027.
