Maruti Suzuki currently offer two types of automatic transmission options with their cars – AMTs and torque converters. The last-gen Baleno used to offer a continuously variable transmission but that has been replaced with an AMT with the new-gen Baleno.

Currently, the 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission is found in the Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and S-Cross. Maruti have now introduced the 6-speed automatic transmission in the Ertiga and XL6 with their respective facelifts. Going further, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza will also be offered with the 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters like the Ertiga and XL6. Along with the new transmission, the 2022 Brezza will offer an updated design and new-age features.

Speaking of the S-Cross and Ciaz, both the products are set to receive their respective updates in the coming years. We expect Maruti Nexa to offer a mild-update to the Ciaz whereas the S-Cross will receive a new generation. The 2022 S-Cross is already revealed in the global markets with a new design and better features. Unlike the global markets, the India-spec S-Cross is likely to feature the 1.5L dual-jet normal petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
