Maruti Suzuki unveiled its latest C-segment SUV, the Grand Vitara, in late July 2022. The homerwon carmaker opened bookings for the Grand Vitara on July 11. Since then, the Grand Vitara has received an additional 8,000 bookings from prospective buyers, taking the total number of bookings to 53,000.

Meanwhile, the prices for the top variants of the Grand Vitara’s Toyota cousin, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder were unveiled a few days ago. The Grand Vitara and the Hyryder are the result of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota’s latest collaboration. Both carmakers jointly developed the engine, transmission, frame, design and features of the 2 SUVs. On the engine and transmission side, Toyota contributed heavily towards the development of the strong hybrid engine. And that’s a good thing as Toyota have over 2 decades of expertise in making hybrid vehicles.

Going further, Toyota are gearing up to locally manufacture the Urban Cruiser Hyryder’s hybrid powertrain. The main components of the powertrain include electric motor, battery pack and control unit. As Toyota are manufacturing the Grand Vitara at their plant in Bidadi, this move will benefit both the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Grand Vitara.
Toyota have already announced the prices for the strong hybrid variants of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. However, the Japanese carmaker is yet to reveal the complete prices for the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder. We expect the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder to be priced a few thousand rupees from each other.
