The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the country. Now, Maruti Suzuki have silently added electronic stability program (ESP) as standard across all variants of the Swift. We expect the carmaker to update the Swift with BS6 phase 2 compliant engines soon.

Earlier, the Swift offered electronic stability program (ESP) bundled with hill hold control only in variants equipped with the automated manual transmission (AMT). With the 2023 model, the Swift now offers ESP as standard on both manual and automated manual transmission variants. However, hill hold control remains exclusive to AMT variants.

The carmaker revealed their plans to update their entire range with E20 fuel compliant engines by March 2023. Furthermore, Suzuki have already begun testing the 4th-gen Swift, which is likely to hit our shores in 2024.

Reports suggest that the 2024 Suzuki Swift will offer the option of a strong hybrid powertrain that could enable the hatchback to deliver a fuel efficiency rating of over 30kmpl. The powertrain could be similar to the one that Maruti offer in the Grand Vitara, albeit with a smaller engine and battery pack. Apart from the strong hybrid powertrain, the new Swift is likely to be offered with the 1.2L normal petrol engine as well.
