German luxury auto behemoth, Mercedes-Benz is always busy expanding its lineup.Mercedes-Benz’s performance wing - AMG is also doing the same to keep attracting the power hungry car enthusiasts. As a result, the Mercedes-AMG GT lineup has been growing substantially ever since its market debut. The GT S Roadster is the newest member of the AMG GT family, and it is an awesome head turner of a sports convertible model. The new Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is as fascinating as you would expect a GT convertible to be, and is insanely powerful and fast as well befitting its lineage.
Under the hood, the new Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is powered by the same powerful 4.0 litre V8 bi-turbocharged petrol mill that drives the rest of the Mercedes GT lineup. The GT S Roadster has the capability to offer a max power output of 522 PS and 670 Nm of top torque. This makes the GT S Roadster slot above the Standard GT offering 476 PS and below the GT C delivering 557 PS. The GT S is also definitely one of the fastest cars, as it has the ability to zip to a speed level 100 km per hour from a standstill position in just 3.8 seconds. The GT S Roadster offers a top speed of crazy 308kmph as against the GT C's insane top speed 316kmph and the standard model’s top hit of 302kmph, which means the GT S is a perfect fit in the Mercedes-AMG GT lineup.
Further going by the Mercedes-AMG GT family trend, the new GT S Roadster’s V8 engine gets paired with a 7 speed AMG sport transmission gearbox and it also has five driving modes to offer great convenience to the driver. The company also offers an AMG Dynamic Plus package that adds in some extra goodies such as an active engine and transmission mounts, a wider power band in the Manual as well as in the Race modes and sportier trims in the interior to make things look and feel sportier.
The new Mercedes-Benz GT S Roadster also comes fully braced with sophisticated techs as one can imagine. It comes with Mercedes-Benz Airscarf neck heater, sports seats, adaptive dampers and an electronically lockable differential as part of its standard package. There is a good dose of chrome garnish on the inside in the form of cabin trims as well as on the outside front grille, fins and diffuser, which makes the GT S Roadster more blingy and marks it apart from its other GT siblings. However, if the shine of chrome garnish is too much for some customers, they can opt for the gloss black or the carbon fibre option.
When the Indian car market is concerned, Mercedes-Benz offers only the standard GT Roadster for sale in India from the AMG GT convertible lineup. While there is no official news regarding the plans of the new Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster’s arrival in India, we surely hope that Mercedes will soon bring it here.
