Mercedes Benz EQB Unveiled; Third SUV In The EQ Lineup | V3Cars

Mercedes Benz has taken wraps off the EQB SUV. It is the third all-electric SUV in the German carmaker’s lineup after the EQC and the EQA. As the name suggests, the EQB is essentially an all-electric version of the GLB SUV which is already on sale globally.

In terms of design, the EQB looks in line with other EQ models. Upfront, it features a black-out panel flanked by angular LED headlmaps. Other design elements remind us of the GLB SUV as it gets a long bonnet with a proper SUV-like boxy silhouette. At the back as well, the EQB looks like any other EQ SUV with connected tail lamps.

The EQB looks similar to the GLB on the inside as well. It gets a similar dual-screen setup for instrumentation and infotainment along with turbine-like circular AC vents. The EQB is also a 7-seater SUV like the GLB.

Mercedes Benz has not yet revealed the powertrain details of the EQB entirely. However, the carmaker has confirmed that the China-spec EQB will be offered in a fully-loaded AMG Line variant producing 292PS. In Europe, on the other hand, the EQB will be offered in various variants with front-wheel and all-wheel drive and various power levels, some producing over 272PS. These models will be offered with a battery pack of upto 66.5 kWh.

Talking about the range, the EQB 350 4MATIC can do upto 478km (WLTP cycle). Meanwhile, the carmaker has also confirmed that a longer-range version of the EQB is also under development. For changing, the EQB supports a fast charger of up to 100kW and it can juice up the battery from 10-80 per cent in 30 minutes.

The EQB will go on sale in the Chinese market in the coming few months followed by the launch in the European market by the end of this year. Mercedes Benz will launch the EQB in the USA by 2022. Since the carmaker doesn’t offer the GLB in India, it is hard to say if the EQB will be on sale here.
