MG Introduce New Astor EX Variants With Fewer Features, Lower Price | V3Cars

MG Motor India have launched new EX variants of the Astor SUV to deal with the current semiconductor shortage. The new EX variants w go on sale alongside the current variants of the Astor, albeit at a comparatively lower price. The EX variants offer fewer safety features than other variants of the Astor.

The deleted safety features in the EX variants include electronic stability program (ESP), traction control system (TCS), hill-hold control and hill descent control. In addition to that, the Sharp EX variant further misses out on blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert. It is worth noting that the EX variants are only available with the 1.5L normal petrol engine powertrain option.

The 1.5L normal petrol engine in the Astor produces 110PS of power and 144Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The Astor 1.5 is the only C-Segment SUV with a 5-speed manual transmission. All of its rivals offer a 6-speed manual transmission. Speaking of other engine options, the 1.5L normal petrol engine also comes with a CVT transmission. MG Motor also offer the Astor with a 1.3L turbo petrol engine, which produces 140PS of power and 220Nm of torque. The 1.3L turbo petrol engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
