New Audi A6 To Be Launched In India On 26 September

Audi is set to launch the fifth generation A6 in India on 26 September. The new A6 is larger than the outgoing model and gets an A8-inspired exterior design. It’s coming to India a year after its global reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018.

In terms of its exterior dimensions, the new A6 is 7mm longer, 12mm wider and 2mm taller than its predecessor. While the change in dimensions is not significant, Audi claims that cabin space of the car has increased. The boot space on the new A6 is 530 litres, the same as in the older model.

As far as its exterior design is concerned, the A6 gets the traditional three-box layout with a long hood at the front and a prominent third box -- boot. The front gets a large hexagonal grille and a sportier bumper, while the headlamp design appears to be an evolution of the previous model. The new model comes with alloy wheel sizes varying from 17 inches to 21 inches; 18 inch was the largest size on offer on the previous generation.

The noticeable elements at the rear of the new A6 include the chrome insert that runs from one tail lamp to the other and striking LED tail lamp design. The rear bumper has also been redesigned to make it look more sporty.

The new A6 looks more modern than the outgoing model, and its interior design looks edgier than before. The hint of modernity comes thanks to the use of multiple display screens: one in the middle of the dashboard, one at the bottom, and another in the driver’s instrument console. The new A6 will also be more feature-loaded than the outgoing model, however, it remains to be seen what all do we get on the India specification.

What is now known is that Audi won’t introduce the A6 in India with a diesel engine now. It will get a petrol engine only, likely paired with hybrid tech. At present, the A6 is available in India with a 1.8-litre, 190PS petrol engine.

The fourth generation A6 is priced at Rs 50 lakh in India with the petrol engine. It is available in just one Technology variant. We expect the new model to be priced in the range of Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh. It will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Volvo S90 in India.
