2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Mileage or Fuel Efficiency

The biggest talking point of the new generation 2021 Celerio is its fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki haven’t revealed the figures yet, but they claim that the Celerio will have the best mileage for any petrol car sold in India. The teaser video of the new Celerio confirms that the car will get an auto-start/stop system. We can expect this feature to play some role in improving the mileage figures of the upcoming 2022 Maruti Celerio.

New Maruti Celerio Features

In terms of confirmed features, the auto-start/stop is one. Besides, we can see that the car will get 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Carplay for native smartphone connectivity. Moreover, we can see that just below the touchscreen, there are buttons for power windows and central locking. This is an awkward choice of button placement for power window buttons as most cars usually have these on the door panels or door armrests.

The new Celerio will also get keyless entry and push-button start/stop. Inside, the car gets a redesigned gear lever for the AMT automatic transmission.

Here’s a quick look at the notable features of the Maruti Celerio:

  • ORVM with turn indicators

  • Touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Carplay

  • Keyless entry

  • Push-button start/stop

  • Black alloy wheels

  • Halogen reflector headlamps

  • Flap type door handles (older Celerio had grab type handles)

  • Engine auto-start/stop

  • Manual day/night inside mirror

  • Manual AC

  • Steering-mounted controls

New Celerio 1.2L Hybrid Mileage

On the mechanical front, the Celerio will certainly carry over the 1.0L normal petrol engine with the 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. Additionally, the new Celerio will also get the 1.2L hybrid petrol engine, which is also available in the Dzire and Baleno. This engine already has a phenomenal mileage figure of more than 24kmpl with the Dzire AMT. Being a lighter car, we can expect the new Celerio to even offer around 26kmpl.

The outgoing model of the Celerio also had a CNG option with the 1.0L engine. So, we’re expecting the new car to also get the same. However, the CNG variant may carry a considerably higher premium over the comparable petrol model. Currently, Maruti Suzuki charge a premium of around Rs. 90,000 on the ex-showroom price for CNG cars.
