The highly established sedan models are not known to receive radical changes until recently. The rise of the SUV/crossovers has resulted in the decline of the demands for the highly successful sedan models. In order to revive the popularity of these age-old models, the automakers are radically changing them to surprise and attract buyers. One such latest example is the all new 2018 Honda Accord sedan. The Japanese auto major has certainly done a wholesome impressive job on its one of the bestselling models by completely overhauling it and making it radically new.

The new generation Honda Accord is actually an entirely new car and gets everything new right from a swanky new coupe-inspired styling to new turbocharged engines under the hood. There are also highly appreciable advanced safety features that are offered as standard across all trims.

One of the most important changes in the new-gen Accord are the 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The 2.0L mill is a highly refined and sleek unit that gets paired with an all new 10 speed automatic transmission, which is a massively impressive combination. This turbocharged mill offers super smooth and punchy performance, while remaining perfectly refined even when made to work hard. The automatic gearbox is a perfect partner to this mill and is equally sophisticated, refined and responsive.

The 2.0L generates 252 hp of power and replaces the highly appreciated 3.5L V6 engine. It is available with a 6 speed manual transmission in the Sport model trim. The 1.5L engine is seen under the hoods of the Civic and the CR-V. It offers 192 hp and is coupled with a continuously variable transmission.

On the inside, the all new Honda Accord sedan gets a single screen infotainment system replacing the dual-screen unit of the outgoing model. It is a highly user friendly unit offering vivid and colorful graphics and customizable icons. There are old-school knobs for audio volume and tuning, which is a good thing actually. The radically new and high-tech car model’s overall appeal is enhanced with the new digital and analog instrument cluster.

The new Accord similar to the new Civic, is not only radically styled and sportier than ever, but is also lower and wider to add to its sporty stance. Hence, one needs to bow quiet low while accessing to the cabin of the car. However, the cabin is really spacious and comfortable with abundant headroom, elbowroom and legroom. The Touring trim also offers four-way lumbar adjustment to the well-supported seats. At the rear, tall occupants might find the headroom to be limited. Honda also claims that the new Accord will offer a bit more boot space than its predecessor.

The new Accord is braced up with the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety systems as standard, which include forward-collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, auto high beams, lane-keeping assist and more. However, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert systems are missing in the standard package, but are offered as optional features.

While the all new 2018 Honda Accord hits the international market this November, the hybrid version will follow early next year.
