Maruti Suzuki To Export New Celerio To Africa, Latin America & ASEAN | V3Cars

Besides replacing the older Celerio in India, Suzuki has plans to launch the new generation Celerio in other markets too. Africa will be the first market after India to get the new Celerio, as confirmed to V3Cars by Maruti Suzuki’s Director of Engineering, CV Raman. Raman also confirmed to us that Maruti Suzuki will export the Celerio to Latin America, ASEAN and neighbouring countries as well.

Africa is also a right-hand drive market, like India, and the previous generation Celerio is already on sale in the country. It is the second most affordable Suzuki car in Africa, with the starting price being 1,000 ZAR more than the S-Presso’s.

It is worth noting that the markets that the Celerio will be exported to are still developing markets, although Raman mentioned that the car will be a global model. It remains to be seen if the new Celerio is meant for any other right-hand drive developed markets too, like Australia.

Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Celerio in India with a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. It is the most fuel efficient petrol car in the country, with a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 26.68 kmpl. The Celerio is available with a 1.0-litre, petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT automatic. The new model replaces the older Celerio, which went on sale back in 2014.
