India’s top selling car maker, Maruti Suzuki launched the much awaited Ignis tallboy hatchback on 13th of January, 2017. The new Maruti Suzuki Ignis has thus, just completed one month of market existence in India, and it can be very safely said that the Ignis is already a great success. Maruti Suzuki launched its long anticipated Ignis in a glittering event and an EDM concert that also featured international music sensation Axwell. Maruti Suzuki never had to work hard to create a great buzz around the Ignis, as the model created headlines ever since it was showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo and has been one of the most awaited new car launches in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki received more than 6,000 bookings for the Ignis before the model actually hit the Indian car market officially. The Indo-Japanese company received another 10,000 bookings post the actual market launch of the car. When market competition is concerned, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis does not actually have any direct rivals. However, it goes up against several car models in the Indian car market including compact hatchbacks such as the new refreshed Hyundai Grand i10 and its own cousin Maruti Swift, and also the Mahindra KU100 micro-SUV.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is offered for sale in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol version of the car gets powered by a 1.2 liter petrol mill which is capable of offering 81 bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of top torque. On the other hand, the car’s diesel version comes packed with a 1.3 liter diesel engine which is good to deliver 73 bhp of power and 119 Nm of torque. Both the engines have been paired to a 5 speed manual as well as an AMT gearbox choice. The Ignis has 4 manual transmission variants 2 AMT variants.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis has a price range of Rs. 4.59 lakhs to Rs. 7.46 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
