JSW MG Motor India have released the first official teaser of their upcoming SUV, which is called the Hector Tomahawk. The teaser confirms that the SUV will be based on the brand’s new ADAPT platform and will be an EV. The teaser carries the message, “ADAPT takes its first electric form”.

Update (August 26, 2026): MG have confirmed the upcoming SUV's name as the Hector Tomahawk. The model was previously expected to be called the Hector Hawk.
The upcoming SUV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 and will sit above the Hector and Hector Plus in MG's India lineup.

MG’s ADAPT platform, which was unveiled earlier this month, was developed to support multiple types of electrified powertrains, including battery-electric (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), strong-hybrid (HEV) and range-extender (REEV) setups.
The latest teaser confirms that the first production application of the architecture in India will be a battery-electric SUV. A plug-in hybrid version is expected to follow at a later stage. The all-electric SUV will make its debut on August 26.

The teaser only shows the silhouette and lighting signatures of the upcoming SUV. However, it reveals an upright body, long wheelbase and relatively tall proportions. These characteristics are consistent with earlier spy shots of Wuling Starlight 560.
Previous test mule sightings have revealed several design details, including:

The SUV’s upright proportions and large greenhouse suggest that MG are targeting buyers looking for a spacious and traditional family SUV rather than a coupe-style electric SUV such as the Mahindra XEV 9e.

The upcoming MG Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to be offered with a 3-row, 7-seat layout. The cabin is expected to feature a minimalist dashboard with a large touchscreen and digital driver’s display. Expected features include:

The Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to feature a 69.2kWh LFP battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing around 204PS and 310Nm.
For reference, the global-spec Wuling Starlight 560 EV offers a claimed range of around 530km on the CLTC cycle. India-spec range and battery specifications are yet to be confirmed. The SUV is also expected to support DC fast charging.
While the first ADAPT-based MG SUV will be an EV, the platform is capable of supporting several other electrified powertrains. A plug-in hybrid version equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack is expected to follow later.
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV is expected to offer around 125km of electric-only range and a combined driving range of more than 1,000km.
MG’s official website also suggest the upcoming SUV could be offered with a strong-hybrid (HEV) and range-extender (REEV) powertrain options at a later stage.

The upcoming MG electric SUV is expected to be positioned in the D1-segment electric SUV space. Its primary rivals are likely to be the Mahindra XEV 9S and the upcoming Tata Safari EV.
