Though Mahindra has not yet confirmed the launch date for the upcoming XUV300 but the official bookings for the 2019 SUV have already been commenced by the automaker. Speculated to be launched on 15th February this year, the XUV300 can be booked for an amount of Rs 11,000. Interested buyers can pre- book the vehicle at any authorized Mahindra dealership or online. As confirmed by Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, M&M Ltd., the Mahindra XUV300 will be positioned against the SUV priced in range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh (ex- showroom). However, the unofficial bookings for the upcoming SUV had already commenced last month at selected Mahindra dealerships across the country.
In terms of looks and features, the upcoming XUV300 follows the same Cheetah design language with a hint of Tivoli’s European style. The 2019 XUV300 looks like the smaller version of the XUV500 by the manufacturer. It gets a chrome finished grille at the front with projector headlamps and LED DRLs at the front and blacked out A, B, and C- Pillars giving a floating effect to the roof at the sides. At the rear, the SUV will offer the split tail lamp with a black bumper and black cladding on the wheel arches matching to the rear bumper. It also comes with 17- inch machine- finished wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Mahindra XUV300 will be offered with a centre console with integrated touchscreen infotainment system, while the dual- tone cabin gets high- gloss black and aluminium silver elements all around. Mahindra claims that the upright stance of the XUV300 gives a commanding seating position to the XUV300. The layout is quite similar to the SsangYong Tivoli available in the international markets. The features list includes a sunroof and cruise control, leather seats, dual- tone dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a second screen that shows the AC temperature. The safety features like dual airbags, rear disc brakes, rear parking sensors, Isofix child seat mounts and ABS with EBD will be offered as standard. Also, the company is all set to offer few segment- first features on the new XUV 300 such as the dual- zone climate control system, disc brakes on all four wheels, the longest wheelbase in the segment and highest torque output.
Though the manufacturer hasn’t revealed anything about the powertrain specifications yet but has hinted that it will get an engine with higher torque output in the segment. It is speculated that the XUV300 will get the same 1.5- litre diesel engine that powers the Marazzo. It produces 121 bhp and 300 Nm and comes mated to a 6- speed MT. The XUV300 might also get an AMT. Petrol variant might possibly have a 1.2 litre turbocharged engine that will make 120 bhp. Mahindra has confirmed that both petrol and diesel manual options will be offered at the time of launch, while the AMT options will be launched later.
According to the confirmed price range, when launched, the new Mahindra XUV300 will take against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport as well as the Hyundai Creta.
