Porsche India is all set to launch the 911 GT2 RS in the country next month. The flagship car of the 911 range and is the most hardcore, track-focused variant of the thoroughbred sportscar, the 911 GT2 RSis a limited edition sportscar and has huge demand globally. The GT2 RS has been one of the most sought after cars in the 911 range and reports suggest that the German luxury automaker is all set to launch the sportscar in India on 10th July 2018.
As the upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 RS is limited to 500 units only, the reports say that Porsche will be launching more than one unit of the car in the Indian market. The reason behind this allocation is said to be the number of serious queries for the car far outnumbered the number of allocations given by the Stuttgart based sportscar manufacturer. The second generation of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is expected to be launched at a price tag of Rs 3.88 Crore (ex-showroom, India) as listed on the official website.
Under the hood, the next- gen Porsche 911 GT2 RS comes powered by a twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine mated to a PDK 7-speed gearbox and gets rear wheel drive producing 686 bhp of peak power and 750 Nm of peak torque. However, the 911 Turbo/Turbo S gets all-wheel-drive system. The engine is capable of doing 0-100 kmph in 2.8-seconds with a top speed of 340 kmph. Not only in terms of powertrain, but the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is also the king of the Nurburgring when it comes to rear wheel drive cars holding the current record at 6:47.3 around the famous race track.
The upcoming 911 GT2 RS has also reduced weight as compared to the predecessor, thanks to the use of a carbon-fibre bonnet, front wings, exterior mirror housings and air duct surrounds, and a titanium exhaust system that is 7kg lighter than before. The car also gets a magnesium roof as standard like the 911 GT3 RS. Also, similar to the 918 Spyder, Porsche offers a Weissach Package to reduce the overall weight by another 30kg; the package uses a carbon-fibre roof and roll bars, and magnesium alloy wheels.
Further details about the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 will be revealed when the automaker launches the sportscar in the country. The car takes against the likes of the new Ferrari 488 Pista and the superlative McLaren 720S in the International markets.
