The Future S Concept was revealed at the Auto Expo 2018 and the automaker started developing its first small crossover car at the company’s Haryana based R&D unit in Rohtak with cues from Suzuki Motor, in Japan. The new small crossover is being developed under the codename Y1K. In terms of looks and design, the S-Presso gets a bold design reinforcing the cross-over like SUV looks. While the ground clearance is expected to be high compared to other models in the entry-level segment, the upcoming Maruti S-Presso will be sold through Maruti’s Arena outlets.
In terms of specifications, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is likely to come powered by a 1-liter petrol engine supported by an AMT gearbox. On the features front, the small crossover by Maruti will come loaded with a segment-first touch screen with rear parking sensors/camera as well as dual tone exterior color option. The safety features to be on offer are likely to be an anti-lock-braking system, driver side, and co-passenger airbags.
Aimed at first time buyers, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is expected to give a fresh breeze of life to the small car segment that has been losing its sheen over the years. When launched, the new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will rival against the likes of the Renault Kwid majorly in the segment. Apart from the S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki is also working on the all-new Celerio, being developed under the codename YNC. It is expected to launch in India sometime next year.
