Renault Bridger Unveiled – 5 Things To Know Ahead Of 2027 Launch | V3Cars
Renault have officially unveiled the Bridger concept, previewing a new B2-segment SUV that will eventually join the brand’s India lineup. The concept offers a closer look at the design and engineering direction of the upcoming production model, which is expected to launch in India around 2027.
Here are 5 things to know about the upcoming Renault Bridger:
1. Bridger To Sit Between Kiger And Duster
Renault have confirmed that the production-spec Bridger will measure under 4 metres in length. Despite its compact dimensions, the upcoming SUV is expected to slot between the Renault Kiger and the upcoming Renault Duster in Renault’s India portfolio.
Several brands have successfully offered multiple SUVs in the same segment but with different positioning. For example, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Maruti Suzuki Fronx cater to different buyers despite similar sizes, while the Kia Sonet and Kia Syros target different customer groups.
The Bridger is expected to follow a similar strategy by offering a more rugged and lifestyle-oriented alternative to the Kiger.
2. Boxy Styling With Tailgate-Mounted Spare Wheel
The Bridger concept adopts a boxy and muscular design, giving it a tougher appearance than most compact SUVs in the segment.
At the front, the concept features slim LED lighting elements with illuminated Renault lettering, along with a large grille and a prominent skid plate. The side profile reveals squared-off wheel arches, thick body cladding and large alloy wheels, reinforcing its rugged stance.
At the rear, the most distinctive element is the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a design cue typically associated with off-road-focused SUVs such as the Land Rover Defender.
3. Built On Renault’s New R-GMP Platform

Renault have confirmed that the Bridger will be based on the new R-GMP platform, which is designed to support multiple powertrain options.
According to the company, the production-spec SUV will be offered as a multi-energy vehicle, meaning it could be available with petrol, hybrid and even electric powertrains. This flexible platform should allow Renault to adapt the Bridger to evolving market demands over time.
4. Spacious Cabin Despite Sub-4m Size
Despite measuring under 4 metres in length, Renault claim the Bridger will offer class-leading interior space. The company says the SUV will provide 200mm of rear knee room, which is expected to be among the best in the compact SUV segment. The Bridger concept also offers 400 litres of boot space, highlighting its focus on practicality alongside rugged styling.
5. Designed In India And Will Be Built For Global Markets
Renault have confirmed that the Bridger has been designed and developed in India, highlighting the importance of the Indian market in the brand’s global strategy.
The production-spec model will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai facility, which currently builds models like the Kiger, Triber and Duster. Once launched in India, the Bridger is also expected to be exported to several international markets, making it a key global product for Renault.
The production-spec Renault Bridger is expected to launch in India by 2027. When it arrives, the compact SUV is likely to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Brezza, while offering a more rugged and lifestyle-oriented alternative within the segment.
