Renault’s sister brand Dacia have teased the Spring EV facelift on their social media. While the Spring EV, which is based on the Renault Kwid, is currently on sale in select markets, Renault are yet to launch an EV in India. The brand showcased the Kwid EV at the 2020 Auto Expo but have not shared any launch timelines for their first EV in India.

Dacia Spring EV Facelift Now Available In Right Hand Drive

Although the Renault Kwid-based electric SUV has been on sale in China for a few years and various European markets for a year, it was never available with a right hand drive configuration. That’s all set to change as the new Dacia Spring EV is all set to go on sale in the UK too. Renault India have stated their plans to launch an India-made EV by 2027 and we could expect it to borrow the same platform and drivetrain from the Spring EV.

The Dacia Spring EV facelift is said to borrow several design cues from the recently-revealed Dacia Duster. Hence, we could expect it to feature angular LED headlamps, Dacia’s new corporate logo, and a revised rear end. Reports also suggest it could receive larger wheels than the outgoing version to enhance its rugged appearance.

The Spring EV is based on Renault’s CMF-A EV platform, which is a modified version of the CMF-A platform that underpins the Kwid in India. Currently, the Spring EV is offered with a 26.8kWh battery pack and offers a range of 295km (WLTP). It is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor that produces 43PS of power and 125Nm of torque.

The India-spec Kwid EV is likely to boast similar range and performance as the Spring EV. When launched, it will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV, among others.
