Renault India has launched the new updated version of the popular Renault Kwid hatchback. The 2018 Renault Kwid facelift’s price range has remained the same as that of the pre-facelift Kwid range in India. Thus, the new 2018 Renault Kwid still has a starting price range of Rs. 2.66 lakhs for the base 800 cc trim, which goes up to Rs. 4.59 lakhs for the top of the range 1.0 litre variant.
When the exterior styling updates are concerned, the Renault Kwid facelift gets very mild cosmetic changes which come in the form of a new grille design that flaunts chrome décor on the higher model trims. The entry-level hatchback model is offered in 6 body paint options to choose from.
The Kwid facelift model also comes with enhanced safety measures and gets the Emergency Locking Retractor equipped rear seat belts as per of the standard fitments on the entire range of models. The range topping Kwid RXT (O) variant boasts of premium features such as reverse camera, while the Kwid AMT variant comes with the Traffic Assist feature. The Traffic Assist feature is similar to that of the ‘creep’ feature which is available on the AMT models in India from other car makers. This feature is extremely handly during bumper to bumper traffic situations in urban roads.
The 2018 Renault Kwid facelift’s top trim RXL now gets endowed with front power windows as well as remote central locking system as standard features. Moreover, the top of the range RXT (O) model trim also comes with a 12V charging socket and flaunts a chrome trim on the centre console. There is also a rear centre armrest as well to add to the overall premium touch on the inside of the entry-level hatchback.
Renault India has also increased the overall convenience factor on the 2018 Kwid hatchback for the customers, by making it available with a 4 year/1,00,000 km warranty that includes the regular two year/50,000 km extended warranty scheme.
The Renault Kwid has been extremely successful in the car market of India, but due to increased market competition the Kwid’s sales have been slightly dampened lately. The Kwid is the bestselling product from the house of Renault in India, and thus the French car maker is planning many updates for the model to keep its customer appeal intact. It is expected that very soon Renault will up the safety quotient of the Kwid by endowing features like ABS and rear parking sensor on the car in an upcoming update.
Moreover, it has been also reported that Renault has started working on a major update of the Kwid, which will improve the entire quality and safety of the hatchback and make it sturdier as compared against the current model. This is because, the Kwid despite its mini SUV-like tough looks has performed miserably in the crash tests, and it needs to improve before the new norms come into effect in 2020.
The Renault Kwid primarily rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto range and Hyundai Eon in the car market of India.
