Skoda India Likely To Launch Octavia RS iV In 2023 | V3Cars

After the immense success of the Octavia RS 230 and 245, Skoda India are likely to bring back the Octavia RS nameplate in plug-in hybrid form. The Skoda Octavia RS has been one of the most affordable performance cars in the Indian market. If launched, the new Octavia RS iV will not only offer affordable performance but also pave the way for future fully electrified products from the Czech brand.

Skoda Octavia RS iV

The Octavia RS iV is the first performance-centric Skoda model to get a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The Octavia RS iV comes with a 1.4L turbo petrol engine and an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 150PS of power and combined with the electric motor, the power and torque output stand at 245PS and 400Nm respectively. The electric motor draws power from a 13kWh battery pack and can cover up to 60km on pure battery power. As the weight has gone up, the Octavia RS iV does 0-100kmph in 7.3 seconds whereas the standard Octavia RS does the same in 6.7 seconds.

The Octavia RS iV doesn’t have any visual differentiation over the Octavia RS save for the fender-mounted charging port and ‘iV’ badging on the boot. Speaking of the design of the Octavia RS iV, it gets a blacked-out grille up front with the vRS badging, 18-inch alloy wheels, side skirts and a boot lip spoiler.

On the inside, the Octavia RS iV comes with all-black interiors and sports seats. The sports seats are finished in Alcantara and get vRS embossing on the headrests. Other design features include an all-black dashboard, red stitching, a 3-spoke steering wheel with red stitching and vRS badging, and red ambient lighting.

Skoda India are likely to bring the Octavia vRS to India in mid-2023. We expect the Czech carmaker to bring the sporty sedan in limited numbers. The launch of the Octavia RS iV will also help the brand to meet the CAFE-II norms as Skoda do not offer any fully-electric vehicles in our market.
