The Indian auto market is slowly moving towards electrification and a whole lot of global auto majors are planning to launch their electric vehicle (EVs) in India. Among a whole lot of other automakers, American electric vehicle manufacturing company, Tesla is also expected to enter the Indian car market in near future. Tesla is likely to start operations in India by 2019. However, auto enthusiasts interested in having Tesla cars in India got excited recently, as a Tesla Model X was spotted in the country.
A picture of a spotted Tesla Model X has been going viral on the net. The Tesla Model X car has been spotted for the very first time in India at the Mumbai dockyard. It is said that the Model X has been imported into India by a private user. However, if and when Tesla actually decides to launch the Model X in the domestic car market of India, it is expected to be tagged at around Rs. 55 lakhs.
In the set of pictures splashed on the internet, the recently spotted Tesla Model X all-electric full-size luxury SUV is shown with its falcon wing doors open. The fascinating wing shaped doors offer access to the second and third-row seats of the electric crossover SUV model.
The private buyer obviously imported the right-hand drive version of the Model X, so that it can be driven on the roads of India. While the buyer is certainly excited to share the pics of his hot electric SUV online with other auto enthusiasts, he is also a true Tesla fan, as the buyer has even designed a custom banner for Tesla.
The Tesla Model X has been a highly praised vehicle and has been garnering accolades for being one of the fastest, safest and highly proficient SUV models in the world. It is a full-sized 7-seater SUV model. Nevertheless, the fascinating and futuristic styling of the all electric SUV makes it look nothing like a SUV. The Model X is a fully zero emission vehicle and gets powered by two electric motors. One electric motor is placed on the front axle, while the other is placed on the rear axle to offer great power and performance.
The Tesla Model X is powerful despite being an all-electric vehicle. Even its base model trim, the 75D is capable of offering a peak power output of 259 bhp along with 249 Nm of top torque. It is good to offer a top speed of 210 km per hour. The electric SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 6.2 seconds. The more powerful 100D variant is super fast and can run 0 to 100 km per hour in only 3.2 seconds.
The Tesla Model X also has high-tech features, it requires Wi-Fi or mobile network to function, and can be updated over the air. The Model X was first showcased as a concept model at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and shares the platform and many other features with the Model S.
