2026 Tata Punch Scores 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating | V3Cars
The 2026 Tata Punch facelift has officially secured a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat NCAP crash test programme. The Punch facelift’s BNCAP rating applies across all variants of the small SUV, reinforcing Tata Motors’ strong focus on safety in the entry-level SUV segment.
Bharat NCAP tested the Pure Plus CNG-AMT and Accomplished CNG-MT variants, and the results have been extended to the entire range.
Tata Punch Bharat NCAP Adult Occupant Protection Explained
In adult occupant protection (AOP), the Tata Punch facelift scored an impressive 30.58 points out of 32.
- Frontal offset deformable barrier test: 14.71/16
- Side movable deformable barrier test: 15.87/16

During the frontal crash test, protection for the driver’s head, neck, pelvis and thighs was rated ‘good’, while the chest, lower legs and feet received ‘adequate’ protection. The co-driver fared even better, with most body regions rated ‘good’, except the right tibia, which was marked ‘adequate’.
In the side impact test, the Punch offered ‘good’ protection to the head, abdomen and pelvis, while chest protection was rated ‘adequate’. The SUV also performed strongly in the side pole impact test, where all critical areas received ‘good’ protection.
Tata Punch Bharat NCAP Child Occupant Protection Results
The Punch facelift scored 45 points out of 49 in child occupant protection (COP).
- Dynamic score: 24/24
- CRS installation: 12/12
- Vehicle assessment: 9/13
Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats using ISOFIX mounts and scored full marks in frontal and side crash tests. The loss of points in the vehicle assessment category could be due to the absence of an integrated child restraint system, which prevented a near-perfect score.
Tata Punch Safety Features
The Tata Punch facelift comes with a strong safety package, including 6 airbags as standard, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, auto-dimming IRVM, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and hill start and descent assistance.
With introductory prices ranging from Rs. 5.59 lakh to Rs. 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata Punch continues to set a high safety benchmark against rivals like the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
