Tata Motors has rolled out the 50,000th Nexon from their Ranjangaon production facility near Pune. This is a big achievement for a vehicle that had been launched less than a year ago. The prices for the Nexon start at Rs 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and goes up to Rs 10.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The sub compact SUV by Tata Motors has been one of the most loved in its segment with its sporty design and appealing styling.
Under the hood, the Tata Nexon comes powered by 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron turbo-petrol engine making 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque, and the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder Revotorq turbo-diesel motor that produces 110 hp of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed AMT.
Tata Nexon has recently earned four stars in the Global NCAP crash test and this is the reason why the Nexon is one of the safest 'Made in India' cars in its segment. Also, recently the automaker offered the Apple CarPlay functionality to the infotainment system of the Nexon. Earlier, the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the higher variants of the Nexon (XZ and XZ+) was only available with Android Auto connectivity since its launch. However, while new models will get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, older models can get the software update R12.50 (up from R11.31) at authorized Tata dealerships. It is supposed to take only 30 min for the update to install.
The Tata Nexon is available in six variants- XE, XM, XMA, XT, XZ, XZ+, XZ+ dual-tone and XZA+. In terms of features, the top of the line Tata Nexon offers features such as a Harman-sourced 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and an 8-speaker sound system including 4 speakers + 4 tweeters, multiple drive modes such as Eco, City and Sport, projector headlamps with daytime running lights and automatic climate control with rear AC vents. Inside the cabin, Tata Nexon features dual-pod instrument cluster, multifunction steering wheel and impressive quality seat and upholstery materials. The Tata Nexon offers a ground clearance of 209mm (unladen) and has a boot space of 350 litres.
Talking about the AMT variants, it also comes with Hill assist feature and crawl function and the latter helps in stop and go traffic situations. The AMT variant for the Tata Nexon was launched for the first time in May 2018 and few months back, Tata Motors launched an optional sunroof for the Nexon for existing as well as new buyers. In terms of safety features, the subcompact SUV gets dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and ISOFIX seat mounts as standard across all the variants making Nexon one of the safest SUVs in its segment and the fourth made-in-India car to get a 4-star rating from Global NCAP after the Tata Zest, Toyota Etios and the Volkswagen Polo.
The SUV takes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V, Mahindra TUV300, Ford Freestyle and NuvoSport in the segment.
