In order to attract more buyers this festive season, Volkswagen has launched special edition models of the Polo and the Vento. Christened the Red and White Edition, they are priced at Rs 9.19 lakh for Polo and Rs 11.49 lakh for Vento.
The Red and White Edition being offered by Volkswagen is a cosmetic job. It gets roof foil, back or white treatment on ORVMs and rear spoiler. It also gets fender badge, side stripes and sun blinds.
The Polo R&W is being offered in three colour options: Sunset Red, Flash Red and Candy White. Where the Sunset Red and Candy White colours get black treatment on the roof, spoiler and ORVMs, the Flash Red option is available with both Black or White treatment for the roof, ORVMs and spoiler.
The Vento R&W, on the other hand, is offered in two colour options: Candy White and Sunset Red. Both of these options get a black treatment on ORMVs, roof and spoiler. Volkswagen is not offering the option of the white roof, ORVMs and spoiler on the Vento R&W Edition.
Under the hood, both the cars are powered by the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 110PS and 175Nm mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. VW is no offering an option of a manual transmission with the special edition models. Where the standard Polo is offered with a 5-speed MT, the Vento gets an option of 6-speed MT.
In terms of features, both cars share their features with the donor variants. Where the Polo R&W Edition is based on the top-spec High Line Plus variant, the Vento R&W Edition is based on the High Line variant.
As a result, Polo gets features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, 16-inch alloys, auto AC with rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt and telescopic steering, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Vento R&W Edition also gets identical features except for the 15-inch alloys., it gets in place of 16-inch units on Polo.
It is to be noted that Volkswagen is not charging anything extra for the R&W Edition models. That said, the standard Vento Highline is not offered with an automatic transmission but the Vento R&W Edition does get an automatic transmission.
