Last month, Volkswagen launched the Virtus GT with a manual transmission option to make the sporty sedan more accessible to buyers. Now, VW have taken another step to make the Virtus GT even more tempting by launching the Virtus GT DSG variant. With a price tag of Rs. 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Virtus GT DSG variant is Rs. 70,000 cheaper than the GT Plus MT variant and a whopping Rs. 2.37 lakh more affordable than the top-of-the-line Virtus GT Plus DSG variant. As you might have noticed by now, the new Virtus GT variant does not get the Plus suffix. So let’s see how the Virtus GT DSG differs from the Virtus GT Plus DSG, shall we?
VW Virtus GT DSG Launched At Rs. 16.19 Lakh
With a price difference of Rs. 2.37 lakh, the Virtus GT DSG variant misses out on a few features over the Virtus GT Plus DSG. These include the lack of full leatherette seat upholstery, side and curtain airbags, height adjustable front passenger seat, auto dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, digital instrument cluster, sunroof and ventilated front seats. On the outside, the new variant does not come with the chrome lining on the grille and window line and trades in the blacked-out alloy wheels for silver units. Other changes include bulb-type turn indicators instead of LED units.

VW Virtus GT DSG Powertrain And Specifications
Like other GT variants of the Virtus sedan, the VW Virtus GT DSG is powered by a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that puts out 150PS of power at 6000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1600rpm and 3500rpm. This engine offers active cylinder deactivation that shuts off 2 of the 4 cylinders when cruising at a constant speed to aid fuel efficiency. The new variant comes with the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission while there’s a 6-speed manual transmission available as well in the Virtus GT Plus MT variant.

Virtus GT Edge Limited Edition Launched
A couple of weeks ago, Volkswagen introduced a new blue paint option for the Virtus. The carmaker has now launched the new GT Edge limited edition, which is only available in black. . The Virtus GT Edge limited edition is available with both transmission options — 6-speed manual at Rs. 17.09 lakh and DCT at Rs. 18.76 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the Virtus GT Edge limited edition are currently open and the carmaker will produce them on a per-order basis.
