Volkswagen India has launched the Ameo Pace special edition in the country priced at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The German automaker had also launched the Polo Pace and Vento Sport editions last month. According to the VW website, the Volkswagen Ameo Pace edition price is for the top-end Highline trim of the subcompact sedan and it is offered with few exterior and interior feature upgrades.
Under the hood, the newly launched VW Ameo Pace gets the same 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine that produces 108 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque in the standard Ameo. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a DSG automatic transmission options. However, the main highlight in the special edition Ameo is the new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that was launched with VW Polo recently and churns out 75 bhp and 95 Nm of peak torque, and is paired only to a 5-speed manual. The engine had replaced the 1.2-litre petrol in Polo and now it has made its way to the VW Ameo Pace.
Talking about the upgrades, the 2018 VW Ameo Pace receives a carbon-fibre finished rear spoiler, black finished outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), new alloy wheel design and cruise control as the updated features. Apart from this, the special edition car also gets standard infotainment system instead of the touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and the safety features include dual airbags and ABS as standard. However, one thing to notice here is that the 2018 Ameo Pace is based on the mid-level Comfortline variant, hence it misses out on few features as compared to the top-end Highline variant such as chrome accents on the grille and bumper while it misses out on the reverse parking camera and rain sensing wipers in terms of safety features. The sedan is available in five exterior color options such as Reflex Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White, Carbon Steel and Blue Silk.
In terms of pricing, the standard Volkswagen Ameo Highline trim is priced at Rs 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) that makes the Ameo Pace edition cheaper and a good option to attract more number of customers for the automaker in the country. The Ameo The Ameo is available in four variants: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Highline Plus and competes in the popular sub-4 metre compact sedan category with cars like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the soon to be launched, second-gen Honda Amaze.
One interesting thing to promote the Ameo sedan by the German automaker is that Volkswagen is also organising a multi-city Ameo roadshow that will travel through 250 cities across India covering over 30,000km, starting from April 14, 2018. The roadshow will commence from Maharashtra in the West, Uttarakhand and Haryana in the North and Karnataka in the South. The roadshow will help the customers interested in buying the Ameo to test drive and book the car on the spot and will also offer options to finance the car making it more feasible for the potential customers.
