Maruti Suzuki are likely to showcase the Jimny 5-door at the 2023 Auto Expo in January and it could be the homegrown carmaker’s showstopper for the biennial auto show. The Jimny 5-door will be showcased alongside Maruti Suzuki’s future offerings and electric vehicle concepts.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Exterior And Design
The Jimny 5 door has been spotted testing in India several times, covering varied landscapes. While its hard to judge the styling from a camouflaged test car, its silhouette and body styling remains similar to that of the Jimny 3 door. The Jimny 5 door will retain the Jimny 3-door’s round LED headlights, 5 slat grille and round fog lights.

The big change, however, will be in terms of wheelbase and overall length. The Jimny 5 door will feature a longer wheelbase to accommodate rear doors and 2nd-row seating. Whether the Jimny will remain under 4 metres in length or span beyond it remains to be seen. The latter could be more lucrative for Maruti Suzuki as the 1.5L petrol engine of the Jimny will not allow the SUV to enjoy tax benefits offered to sub-4m cars equipped with petrol engines up to 1.2L. Hence, Maruti Suzuki might as well offer a longer version to maximise space for 2 proper rows of seats and decent luggage carrying capacity.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door Features
The Jimny 5-door is likely to offer features like a touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, conventional twin-dial instrument cluster, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and front and rear seat centre armrests.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door Powertrain
In terms of powertrain, the Jimny 5-door could use the same 1.5L K15C petrol engine seen in the Jimny 3-door. It produces 102PS of power at 6000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4000rpm. In the Jimny 3-door, this engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. For the Jimny 5-door, Maruti Suzuki could replace the ageing 4-speed unit with a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission from the Ertiga/XL6.

2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door Launch Timeline, Rivals
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is likely to be one of the most-affordable 4x4 ladder-on-frame SUVs in India. We expect Maruti Suzuki to price the Jimny 5-door in the range of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh ex-showroom. It will go up against other 4x4 rivals like the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door and Force Gurkha 5-door. Both the Thar 5-door and Gurkha 5-door have also been spotted on test and we expect the Gurkha 5-door to go on sale first.
