The new Hyundai B1-segment SUV is likely to use the Grand i10 Nios’ platform and powertrains. Hence, we can expect the upcoming small SUV to offer a 1.2L normal petrol engine and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. With the rising popularity of CNG cars, we won’t be surprised if Hyundai India launch the Nios crossover SUV with a factory-fitted CNG kit as well. In the Grand i10 Nios, the 1.2L normal petrol engine produces 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 100PS of power at 6000rpm and 172Nm of torque at 4000rpm.

The Grand i10 Nios-based small SUV is likely to fall in the B1-segment and rival the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Renault Kiger normal petrol and Nissan Magnite normal petrol.

Hyundai are currently testing the small SUV based on the Grand i10 Nios. Hence, we do not expect Hyundai to showcase the production version of the Grand i10 Nios SUV at the Auto Expo 2023. However, we are confident Hyundai will showcase the small SUV in concept form or even a pre-production version of the B1-segment SUV. Furthermore, the launch of the SUV could take place towards the end of 2023 since Hyundai already have some important launches lineup up for the start of the new year, including the Creta facelift and new-gen Verna.
The new small SUV from Hyundai will lock horns with the Tata Punch and Citroen C3. Based on the spied pictures that reveal the exterior features of the SUV, we expect its price to range between Rs. 7 lakh to 10 lakh ex-showroom.
