Upcoming Flex Fuel Cars At Auto Expo 2023

The 2023 Auto Expo is just around the corner and we expect carmakers to showcase and/or launch several cars at the auto show. Several carmakers, such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata, MG and Hyundai, are set to showcase their cars next month. Here, we list flex fuel cars that are likely to come to the 2023 edition of the Auto Expo.

Upcoming Flex Fuel Cars

Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R Flex Fuel

Maruti Suzuki will showcase the Wagon-R flex fuel at the 2023 Auto Expo. While the carmaker recently revealed the Wagon-R flex fuel at a private event, it will make its first public appearance at the auto show. The Wagon R flex fuel is designed to run on ethanol-petrol blend ranging from E20 (ethanol 20 percent) to E85 (ethanol 85 percent). The flex fuel version of the B1-segment hatchback is expected to retain the same features as the Wagon-R petrol, including a touchscreen infotainment system, electronically-adjustable ORVMs and rear washer with wiper. It’s worth mentioning that while the Wagon-R flex fuel with E85 compliance is under testing, Maruti Suzuki will update their entire range of vehicles with E20-fuel compliance by March 2023.

Toyota Corolla Flex Fuel Hybrid

Toyota recently showcased the Corolla flex fuel hybrid sedan and the same will likely appear at the 2023 Auto Expo. The most notable feature of the Toyota Corolla flex fuel hybrid is that it can run on both petrol and ethanol and offer terrific fuel efficiency thanks to its strong hybrid powertrain.  Its 1.8L strong hybrid powertrain offers a combined power and torque output of 102PS and 142Nm. The power and torque outputs for the electric motor stand at 72PS and 162Nm, respectively. The electric motor draws power from a 1.3kWh battery pack, similar to what we get in the Hyryder and Camry.

Toyota are unlikely to launch the Corolla flex fuel hybrid in India anytime soon. It’s an effort from the Japanese marque to showcase its flex fuel technology that is already renowned for its lower emissions in the Brazilian market. In the future, we can expect the inclusion of flex fuel powertrain options with existing and upcoming products from Toyota India.
