The refreshed Ford Figo has been expected to launch in India for quite some time now. However, although the Ford Aspire subcompact sedan facelift went on sale earlier this year, its hatchback twin’s facelift model will be launched only in early 2019. The 2019 refreshed Ford Figo facelift was recently caught testing in its production-ready version and the pictures went viral on the web world. The soon to launch Figo facelift was spotted with no veils to hide its styling updates and even had all the logos in place. So, there was no intention of hiding this car from the prying spy cameras, and this indicates that the model is set to launch very soon.
The latest pictures of the testing un-camouflaged Ford Figo facelift has also revealed an interesting details - a black element on the bottom of the hatch lid that has 'Blu' letterings. The meaning of this ‘Blu’ insignia is not clear at the moment, and keeps us guessing if it might be the CNG Figo variant, which was expected for quite some time.
When it comes to styling, the 2019 updated Ford Figo will share most of its design with its sedan sibling new updated Aspire. Thus, the Figo facelift’s front fascia gets the similar wide honeycomb grille with classy chrome surrounds, revised headlight consoles, which still retains the halogen lamps and the new aggressively styled bumper with its sporty black elements, wide airdam and the round shaped fog lights. The spy shots don’t show the whole side profile of the car, but a black element similar to the one mentioned on the tailgate can be noticed on the profile as well, while there’s also a set of multi-spoke black alloy wheels.
The latest set of spy pictures doesn’t reveal the cabin on the upcoming Figo facelift. However, we already know that similar to the exterior updates, the interior updates of the Figo facelift will be very much like that of the updated Aspire sedan model. Hence, the updated Figo will also get the same revised dashboard design along with the premium looking new floating infotainment display. The infotainment unit wil boast of offering Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, while the Ford SYNC3 interface is expected. The American auto major is also expected to bump up the safety quotient on the updated Figo. Hence, similar to the Aspire’s, features such as dual airbags, brake assist, ABS with EBD rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminder are likely to be part of the standard package on the Figo facelift.
Then again, under the hood, the 2019 Ford Figo facelift is most likely to pack in the new 1.2 litre 3-cylinder and the 1.5 litre 3-cylinder mills, while the 1.5 litre TDCI diesel engine will be carried forward from the outgoing model. The updated Figo hatch will offer both manual and automatic transmission options. If the CNG variant of the Figo really gets introduced, then it would be powered by the 1.2 litre petrol mill paired with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
