Renault India have announced that the new Duster has achieved a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), marking a significant milestone for the SUV ahead of its reintroduction in the Indian market.

Strong Performance In Crash Tests

The new Duster delivered an impressive performance in both adult and child occupant protection categories:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 30.49/32
  • Child Occupant Protection: 45/49

These scores place the Duster among the safer SUVs in its segment.

Rating Applicable Across All Variants

Renault have confirmed that the 5-star safety rating applies across the entire Duster lineup. The tests were conducted on the following variants:

  • Evolution (Turbo 160 MT)
  • Techno (Turbo 160 DCT)
  • Iconic (Turbo 160 MT)

Despite testing select variants, Renault say the certification extends to all variants, ensuring a consistent level of safety across the range.

Built On RGMP Platform

The new Duster is underpinned by Renault’s RGMP platform, which has been engineered with a strong focus on structural integrity and crash protection.

Renault state that the SUV was developed with a clear objective of achieving a 5-star safety rating, and the BNCAP results validate this approach.

The Duster comes equipped with a comprehensive set of safety features as standard, including:

  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
  • 6 airbags
  • Hill hold control and hill descent control
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
  • ISOFIX child seat mounts
  • 3-point seatbelts for all passengers
  • Seatbelt reminders for all occupants

In addition to the standard safety equipment, the new Duster also offers 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, such as:
