Pro Tip: The updated Duster will get more features and cosmetic updates, but powertrains are expected to remain the same.
Renault will officially reveal and announce prices of the 2019 Duster (facelift) on 8 July 2019. The carmaker had recently teased the car on its official India site, revealing its new blue exterior and headlamp layout. Dealer dispatches of the updated Duster have begun and we expect its test drives to begin soon.
Majority of the cosmetic changes on the Duster are concentrated at the front. It gets a new grille, a redesigned bonnet and an updated front bumper. Headlights of the updated model will be projector type and headlamps will feature DRLs are well. The updated Duster will get a new alloy wheel design too.
There will be changes on the inside too, starting with a slightly reworked dashboard layout and a new steering wheel. Expect features like rear parking sensors, dual front airbags and front seatbelt reminder to come standard in the Duster facelift.
Renault is likely to carry forward the same set of powertrains on the updated model as in the current version. So expect the 2019 Duster to get a 1.5-litre petrol engine with the option of manual transmission or CVT, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with an AMT gearbox, apart from a manual transmission.
Renault is expected to stop production of diesel cars for the Indian market in 2020. It remains to be seen when will the carmaker discontinue the diesel Duster. In India, the Duster competes in the compact SUV space where it rivals the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Competition in this segment is going to heat up further as Kia is set to launch the Seltos in India in August 2019.
