The new 2019 Renault Kwid Climber is preparing for its official launch in India and its spy images sans camouflage have now emerged and these reveal several exterior styling updates over the current model.
The noteworthy design updates on the Climber facelift include a split headlamp which is reminiscent of the Renault K-ZE EV (in China). The car’s LED Daytime Running Lights are placed beside the redesigned front radiator grille while the main headlamps are positioned lower down on the front bumper in deeper set housings.
The lower front grille of the car gets three horizontal slats replacing the honeycomb grille of the current model, while there’s a bolder chin now. The rear end of the car features new updates as well in the form of revised tail lights along with new light reflectors.
The Kwid facelift’s Climber variant also flaunts a new design for the alloy wheels, which get a sporty gunmetal grey finish, while featuring the same three-lug nut setup as its predecessor. The spotted car also flaunts added body cladding, faux skid plates, roof rails and sporty orange accents. All these trendy and sporty exterior features will be exclusive to the Climber variant in the Kwid’s range.
On the inside, the updated 2019 Kwid is likely to borrow a few features from the Triber. Thus, the Kwid facelift is expected to be endowed with a new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a parking camera, a digital instrument cluster and a new steering wheel. However, these features are likely to be offered only on the top variants.
Under the hood, the Renault Kwid facelift will not get any changes and will be carrying over the same petrol engines from the ongoing model. Thus, the same options of a 0.8-litre petrol engine offering 54PS and the same 1.0-litre petrol unit generating 68PS will continue to be offered in the updated model. The Climber model is available with a 1.0-litre engine only, and it should remain this way going forward as well. The transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed manual and a 5 speed AMT gearbox. We expect the price of the 2019 Kwid and Climber to remain in the same ballpark as the current model.
