7 Unique Things About The Honda ZR-V You Should Know Before Its Launch | V3Cars
Honda have unveiled the ZR-V hybrid SUV in India. Its price is expected to be announced in June or July 2026. The ZR-V will sit above the Elevate as Honda’s new flagship SUV and will be sold as a premium full-import offering. Unlike turbo-petrol rivals such as the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, the ZR-V takes the hybrid route with Honda’s e:HEV strong-hybrid engine.
Honda are positioning the ZR-V as a sporty SUV that offers efficiency, comfort, space and refinement. Bookings for the ZR-V are open now, while deliveries will begin in the second half of July 2026.
Here are 7 unique things about the Honda ZR-V you should know before its launch.
1. Honda ZR-V Expected Price - Around Rs. 50 Lakh
As explained earlier by V3Cars, we expect Honda to price the ZRV at a premium in its segment. Since Honda will bring the ZR-V to India as a full import, it is likely to carry a premium price. Honda will justify that price with the SUV’s strong-hybrid engine, premium cabin, segment-first features and advanced safety features. It will need to offer a lot more to justify being priced at this premium in a segment where the competition is priced in the Rs. 37 lakh - Rs. 47 lakh, ex-showroom range.
2. Honda ZR-V ‘Sports Hybrid’ e:HEV Engine
Honda are calling the ZRV’s e:HEV powertrain their “Sports Hybrid” technology, it is not being positioned only as a fuel-efficient hybrid SUV. Instead, Honda are presenting the ZR-V as a sporty SUV that also offers efficiency, comfort, space and refinement.
The ZRV gets a 2.0L direct injection petrol engine paired with a 2-motor e-CVT automatic transmission hybrid system. Combined, the system develops 184PS of maximum power while the electric motor develops 315Nm of peak torque. With a claimed 0-100kmph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds, the ZRV is the slowest in the segment.

Earlier, based on international-spec details, we expected Honda to offer the ZR-V in India with 4-wheel drive. However, Honda have now confirmed that the India-spec ZR-V will be front-wheel drive. This makes the ZR-V the only front-wheel-drive SUV in its segment, as rivals such as the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron R-Line offer 4-wheel drive.
3. Honda ZR-V Mileage - 22.80kmpl ARAI-Certified
The Honda ZR-V offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 22.80kmpl. This is one of the biggest differentiators for the ZR-V because most premium SUVs in this space use 2.0L turbo-petrol engines.

The strong-hybrid system should be especially useful in city driving and stop-start traffic, where the battery and electric motor allow EV-only driving. This also gives the ZR-V a different appeal from its turbo-petrol rivals - smoother everyday driving, lower fuel consumption and strong performance when needed.
4. Honda ZR-V Gets A Driver-Focussed Cabin
Honda are highlighting the ZR-V’s driver-focussed interior layout. The SUV gets a black leather interior along with a pearl ‘glow adding’ finish. The ZR-V also gets powered front seats, with the driver’s seat offering 8-way electric adjustment and 2 memory settings. Even the way the hood is sloped is being highlighted as a driver-focussed feature.

Key interior features include a 10.2-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Bose sound system with Centerpoint surround sound technology and a 360-degree parking assist camera.
5. Honda ZR-V Boot Space - Up To 1313L
Honda have confirmed that the India-spec ZR-V offers up to 1313 litres of boot space with the rear seats folded to form a flat floor. By our reckoning the ZRV will offer 370 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and the parcel tray in place, 866 litres with the rear seats folded and measured up to the windowline, and 1291 litres with the rear seats folded and measured up to the roof.

But the highlight here is the first-in-segment walk-away-to-close powered tailgate. Power-assist tailgates and even gesture/kick motion-sensing open function for the tailgate are not new. But the ZRV gets a walk-away-close function where the tailgate will automatically close when you walk away from the car.
6. Honda ZR-V Level-2 ADAS And Safety Features
The Honda ZR-V will come equipped with Honda Sensing Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The ADAS suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Road Departure Mitigation System, Auto High-Beam, Lane Keeping Assist System and Lead Car Departure Notification.

Honda have also confirmed that the ZR-V will offer 8 airbags, including knee protection for both front occupants. This gives the ZR-V a strong safety feature list, especially for buyers looking at a premium family SUV.
7. Honda ZR-V Bookings Open, Deliveries From July 2026
Honda are yet to announce the prices of the ZR-V. Honda have opened bookings for the ZR-V in India. Deliveries of the hybrid SUV will begin in the second half of July 2026.
Given its full-import positioning, strong-hybrid powertrain and premium feature list, the ZR-V is expected to sit well above the Elevate and City e:HEV in Honda’s India lineup.
