World EV Day: Jeep Avenger Compact Electric SUV Announced | V3Cars

On the eve of World EV Day, Jeep announced that they’re bringing the Avenger electric SUV to the European market early in 2023. Jeep classified the Avenger electric as a ‘compact SUV’, which, in American terminology, stands for a C-segment car. So, we can expect it to be as large as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG ZS EV.

Reports suggest that Jeep have ruled out the Avenger SUV for the North American market as it was not designed with those consumers in mind. European customers, on the other hand, are more inclined towards smaller cars and by Indian standards, the Avenger’s size maintains the right balance of compact and spacious. The success of Creta and Seltos serve as the perfect examples to point out that this size meets the needs of most Indian car buyers.

The Jeep Avenger electric SUV will come with a driving range of 400km on a single charge. This is another factor, which won’t sit well with the American car buyers, who prefer at least 500km of range from an EV. Meanwhile, it’s a good range for European and Indian consumers.

Battery and performance specifications are still a secret. Jeep will fully reveal the Avenger electric SUV on October 17, 2022 at the Paris Motor Show and start accepting bookings in the same month.

With these points in mind, we are very hopeful that we may see the Avenger SUV in India sometime in 2024. Thus, allowing Jeep to scale up production to meet and exceed the European demand before looking at the South-Asian region.
