2022 Maruti Nexa Ignis CNG Launch Soon | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki are likely to offer CNG models of their premium cars under the Nexa range soon. While Maruti Nexa are expected to kick things off with the launch of the 2022 Baleno CNG, we expect their second CNG offering to be the Ignis CNG. The Baleno CNG and Ignis CNG could feature the same powertrain as the recently launched Dzire CNG.

2022 Maruti Nexa Ignis

The Maruti Nexa Ignis, which was launched in 2017, received a facelift in 2020. The premium hatchback is now due for another update. The Ignis is currently powered by Maruti’s K12M petrol engine while other models have shifted to the K12C dual-jet petrol engine. Even the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R now gets the dual-jet 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines.

The Ignis CNG is likely to be offered with the 1.2L dual-jet petrol engine. In the Dzire CNG, this engine produces 78PS of power at 6000rpm and 98.5Nm of torque at 4300rpm in CNG mode. The power and torque increases to 90PS and 113Nm when running on petrol.

We expect Maruti Suzuki to offer the CNG option with the middle and top variants of the Ignis to maintain the premium positioning of Nexa cars.

Maruti Suzuki are likely to launch the Ignis CNG later this year. As stated earlier, it will be the 2022 Baleno to get the CNG option first. When launched, the Ignis CNG will be the most affordable CNG model in the Nexa range.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis CNG will rival the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 CNG, Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG and Tata Tiago CNG. Maruti Suzuki are likely to charge a premium of Rs. 95,000 for the CNG option over the corresponding variants.
