Hyundai have taken the wraps off of the new 2023 i20 facelift for the European market. The updated model offers new colour options and a couple of cosmetic updates. Read on to know more about the updated i20 facelift.

To start with, the new i20 facelift offers a set of new bumpers. The front bumper trades the fog lamps for a more angular air duct, which helps to cool the brakes more efficiently. The radiator grille also gets larger intakes and a more aggressive design than the outgoing model.

Around the side, the updated model comes with a choice of new 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the new i20 facelift gets a new bumper with a faux silver skid plate and tweaked Z-shaped LED tail lights. Furthermore, the new i20 also offers 3 new colour options — lime green, grey and blue.

The new i20 facelift also offers a few small changes on the inside. The variants finished in the new lime green colour get lime green stitching on the seats, steering wheel and gear lever and the same coloured inserts on the door cards as well. Furthermore, the lower variants of the i20 now offer a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster whereas the higher variants offer a full colour LCD instrument cluster.

In terms of features, the Euro-spec i20 facelift offers features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and telematics, reverse parking camera, automatic climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, heated and ventilated front seats, configurable ambient lighting and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with rear cross traffic avoidance.

The Euro-spec i20 continues to come with a 1.2L normal petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines. The latter comes mated to a 48V mild-hybrid setup, which improves fuel efficiency while lowering tailpipe emissions. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine comes in 2 states of tune — 100PS & 120PS. Transmission choices include a 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Hyundai unveiled the current-gen i20 globally in February 2020 while the India launch took place in November 2020. Speaking of the new facelift, Hyundai will begin production of the updated i20 in the third quarter of 2023 at their manufacturing facility in Turkey. Hence, the India launch of the 2023 i20 facelift is likely to take place in early 2024. Currently, Hyundai India are gearing up to launch the Exter small SUV to rival the Tata Punch, Citroen C3 and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
